At the first of two vast hotel facilities across self-contained campuses, TCi furniture WORKS provided a one-stop-shop for FF&E
The modular hotel complex took shape in the first half of 2018 with the delivery and installation of 15 accommodation blocks. Each block of 34 single rooms comprises 18 modular units with a secure entrance and modern, wood cladding.
The 510 rooms were constructed with built-in storage and en-suite shower rooms, but each one required furniture and equipment, including mattresses, bedding and electrical goods.
The campus has a large, well-appointed central amenity building which houses a restaurant, two bars, a gym and meeting facilities. TCi furniture WORKs provided a one-stop-shop solution to supply everything to the central amenity building from teaspoons in the dining area to running machines in the fitness suite, office furniture, bar stools and coffee tables.
Additionally, TCi construction WORKS was contracted to take the bare shell of the building to design and deliver ambient and dynamic public spaces, including a welcoming reception area and vibrant sports-bar.
The phased delivery, distribution and installation of all furniture and equipment was managed by TCi over the course of 6 weeks, via our embedded Hinkley Point C team.
Through early supplier engagement and by working closely with the client to meet their specification with an appropriate lead time and budget. This helped to mitigate risk of overrunning and unplanned costs.
Working closely with interior design specialists, Revisionr, TCi provided a comprehensive sampling and selection process for each item of furniture and equipment to ensure that practical requirements were met with impressive aesthetics.
The equipment installation includes a fully functional gym and comprehensive meeting facilities, combined with a large restaurant/canteen area, the two well-appointed bars and recycled, maintenance-free outdoor seating, with every aspect of the furniture provision space-planned by TCi
“At HOST we have worked with TCI on the opening of a large accommodation campus, As our supplier of both FF&E and the supply and fit two new build bars we could not be happier, Throughout the project their team have been a pleasure to work with. They have been a key part to making the opening a success coming in on time and at agreed budget.”
“We are now looking forward our 2nd bigger project with TCI, as one of our key partners they are engaged to fit out nearly 1000 bedrooms, fully design and build the two new bar areas and the fit out of all associated FF&E across the campus.”
“Looking forward to continuing working with TCI again in the future.”
Paul Warburton, HOST Campus General Manager
By undertaking the fit-out, furniture, fixings & equipment contract as one, TCi has been able to deliver a complete solution in time to allow the Hinkley Accommodation Campus to become operational on schedule, with an extremely high standard of finish that you would expect from a hotel facility at one of Europe’s largest developments.
The two bar areas have a warm, yet spacious feel, with vintage-effect furniture that simply blends into the surroundings. The restaurant area is clean and practical, with high and low, modern tables and chairs. Each of the flexible meeting and breakout rooms has been furnished with a multipurpose layout. Some with flexible armchair seating for informal meetings, others featuring stackable seating and tilt-fold boardroom tables to allow the space to be cleared easily for events.
The hotel facility opened for business in June 2018 and is already running at capacity. A further 986 room campus has been built and is due to open in nearby Sedgemoor in the autumn, bringing the room total to 1496. Learn more and book your stay here.
